The Common European Framework of Reference is the international standard for describing language ability โ used by the Goethe-Institut, telc, รSD, universities, and employers across Europe. It describes what you can do in six levels across four skills, rather than reducing you to a test score. A learner is often at different levels in different skills.
CEFR tracks each skill independently โ most self-taught adults are uneven, typically Reading > Listening > Writing > Speaking.
Typical guided-study hours (Goethe-Institut guidance). Real numbers vary a lot with prior experience and immersion.
